OSK for Dummies ver 2.6A Reference for the rest of usOSK stands for the OMAP Starter Kit, a low-cost development kit for ARM-plus-DSP SoC and an embedded linux. The kit comes with MontaVista Linux previewkit, which provides excellent out-of-the-box experience for the users. More information is available here. The kit is based on the Linux kernel version 2.4, missing several new technologies added in the latest version 2.6. Unlike well packaged the preview kit, bare embedded linux requires significant learning curve, to get the ground up. This page is intended to provide help for those who have started Linux recently, but willing to endeavor to try. (aka, weekend crash course) Where to start?1. Obtain the OSK product, and get familiar with itThe kit is available either TI on-line store or Spectrum digital. Then, spend several weeks to play with the bundled Linux preview kit, to get familiar with the new world. Although no dedicated support are provided for the preview kit, a good collection of FAQ and mailing list is available.2. Upgrade the linux kernel to version 2.6The following documents will be your good friends.3. Tune your systemThe above note provides simplest (but with least risk) instructions. To explore more features, go "Howto" or "FAQ" menu at the left colum of this page.Enjoy!
